Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ubuildit ("ubuildit", "we", "us"), a product of simplyIQ Inc., collects, uses and shares information when you use ubuildit.ai and the ubuildit application (together, the "Service"). ubuildit lets a contractor produce a quote for home or commercial work from photos and answers a customer submits, priced from the contractor's own rate card.
Two kinds of user, two different roles
Contractors are our business customers. They create a workspace, subscribe, and use the Service to quote work. For their own account and company information, ubuildit is the controller.
Customers are the people who request a quote from a contractor. They use the Service free of charge.
For the content of a job, meaning the photos, answers, property address and the resulting quote, the contractor is the controller and ubuildit processes that information on their behalf. If you asked a contractor for a quote and you want that job removed, you can ask us and we will act on it, and you can also ask the contractor directly.
Information we collect
From contractors
Account and company information. Name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), phone, company name, business address, service area and the trades you take on.
Your price book. Your rates, labor hours, markup, day rate and tax settings. We treat this as your confidential business information. We do not publish it, share it with other contractors, or use it to build benchmarks, averages or market rates.
Billing information. Subscription status, plan and invoice history. Card details are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
From customers
Contact information. Name, email address and phone number.
Job information. The property address and ZIP, whether it is a home or a commercial property, the type of work, and your answers to the questionnaire for that trade.
Photos and video of the property. This is the heart of the Service and it deserves its own paragraph. When you photograph a room you may also capture things you did not intend to share: people, personal belongings, paperwork, screens, mail, or the interior of a home in more detail than you expected. Photograph only the work area, and please do not include other people, documents, or anything you would not want a contractor to see. Every photo you submit is visible to the contractor you sent it to.
From everyone
Usage data. Log data, IP address, device and browser information, and how you interact with the Service.
How we use information
- To produce an assessment of the work from your photos and answers, meaning a list of items with quantities and a confidence on each one.
- To turn that assessment into a draft quote using the contractor's own price book.
- To deliver the quote to the customer, and to record whether it was accepted or declined.
- To flag when a job needs a site visit, and to record the reason.
- To authenticate you, secure the Service, prevent abuse and meter usage against your plan.
- To bill contractors and to contact you about your account, security and the Service.
- To improve the Service, including the accuracy of assessments.
How AI processing works
To produce an assessment we send your photos and questionnaire answers to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) over an encrypted connection. The model returns a description of the work and the quantities it measured. It never sets a price. Prices come only from the contractor's price book.
We use our AI provider under terms that do not permit your content to be used to train their models. Your photos are sent so that a quote can be produced for you, and for no other purpose.
AI assessments are estimates produced by software. They can be wrong, and the contractor reviews and edits every quote before it is sent. See our Terms of Service for what that means for the numbers you receive.
How we share information
We share information with:
- The contractor you chose. A customer's job, photos, answers and contact details are visible to the contractor they requested a quote from, and to the members of that contractor's workspace. They are not visible to any other contractor.
- Service providers who process information on our behalf under contract: cloud hosting and database (Supabase), application hosting (Render), AI assessment (OpenAI), email delivery (Resend) and payments (Stripe).
- Legal and safety. Where required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of ubuildit, our users or the public.
- Business transfers. If simplyIQ Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will say so before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
What each party can and cannot see
- A contractor sees only the jobs sent to them. Workspaces are isolated from each other in the database itself, by row-level security, not by a filter in the application.
- A customer sees their own jobs and the quotes that have been sent to them. A draft quote is never visible to the customer while the contractor is still working on it.
- A customer cannot see another customer's jobs or photos.
Data retention
We keep job information, including photos, for as long as the contractor's workspace is active and the job has not been deleted, so that both sides have a record of what was quoted and why. Contractors can delete a job, which removes its photos and answers. When a workspace is closed we delete or anonymize its data within 90 days, except where we must keep records for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
Customers can ask us to delete their account and their jobs at any time. If a quote has been accepted and work is underway, the contractor may need to keep a copy as a business record, and that copy is governed by the contractor's own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email support@ubuildit.ai. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
California residents. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws have comparable rights, and we handle all such requests the same way.
Children
The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we learn we have.
Security
We use administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. These include encryption in transit and at rest, hashed passwords, access controls, and per-workspace isolation enforced by row-level security in the database rather than by application code. Photo storage is private, and access is granted only through short-lived signed links to the people entitled to see the job. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where we operate
ubuildit is operated from the United States and information is processed there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change is material we will give notice in the Service before it takes effect.
